Dr. Kathleen Mercer, B.Sc., N.D.

Central Wellness is honored to Welcome Dr. Kathleen Mercer to the practice.  Dr. Mercer will be offering Naturopathic Services through the Cottage Retreat on Tuesdays.  This is very exciting news for our community and surrounding areas. Kathleen is passionate about helping people to feel better, become healthier and be the best version of themselves.

A little bit about Dr. Mercer...

Upon attaining her first Bachelor of Science Degree and traveling worldwide, Kathleen chose Medicine as a life path and felt Naturopathic Medicine encompassed principles of health care that could complement conventional medicine including; prevention, do no harm, doctor as teacher, stimulate the bodies own vital force to do the healing, healing power of nature, patient as an individual, finding and treating the root cause of disease.  Kathleen graduated in 2000 from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine after 4 years of Naturopathic Medical Training.

Kathleen has run a busy practice in NL since 2004 and has been practicing in ON and NL since 2000.  Although Winterholme Wellness Center in St John’s is home for her primary full time practice, she is excited to be spending some time here with us at CW starting in September 2022.

 

Kathleen’s practice is a general practice seeing patients of all ages and circumstances. The modalities of Naturopathic Medicine include nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, Chinese medicine, hydrotherapy, and lifestyle counseling.

 

Naturopathic medicine is about finding the root cause of illness and supporting the body to find its own balance and is a great addition to anyone’s health care team to allow for best health.   Naturopathic Medicine encompasses physical, mental, and emotional well being.  

 

The initial visit with Kathleen is a 1.5 hour visit which allows for a health history intake, a review and assessment of current health status and goals, and naturopathic recommendations.  Follow up visits are 45 minutes and allow for continued assessment, care and recommendations to keep things moving in the right direction.  

 

Kathleen’s agenda incorporates many outreach projects to the public including talks, seminars, podcasting, and community events. She is co-founder of SeaStone, a NL based Health and Wellness Consulting Firm servicing Corporate and Community Clients.

 

Some common areas of interest include: woman’s health and hormone balancing, fertility, individual nutritional planning, inflammation, food intolerances, mental health support, stress management, building healthy relationships, sleep and energy improvement, endocrine dysfunction, disease prevention, improving digestion , and immune system support.

Dr. Kathleen also designs and runs various health and wellness programs and cleanses throughout the year.
